Eastern and Trinity/Then and Then
These two photos, only a few tears apart show that some improvements were made to this building on orders from the city.

A publicity stunt outside the Colonial Tavern on Yonge St. I would guess the early 1960's.

The west side of Yonge from Gerrard up to Hayter and Eaton's College store in 1950.I think these were documented prior to the subway construction to monitor any damage to the the building as construction progressed. It's interesting to note that there was another Kresge's on the opposite side of the street one block north (see previous post)

Yonge and Carlton/Then
A stitched panorama of the east side of Yonge south of Carlton.Queen and Euclid/Then and Now
This row of wood frame hops on the north side of Queen West near Euclid were in serious need of repair in the winter of 1941
Two years later only the one on the left remains (restored) and a replacement has been built with a vitrolite facade.
2010 and strangely the empty lot remains.

Dundas Arcade Store Front
This former shoe store on Dundas near Dufferin has an arcade display storefront. These are harder and harder to find in the city as interior floor space becomes more valuable. It's now a coffee shop.
Unfinished Parkdale Homes
This s a good example of an "Unfinished Semi" located in Parkdale. Quite often a simple box house would be built on the back of the lot with the intention being, that as time and money allowed, a more elaborate and decorative "front" would be added. This shot (probably from the mid 80's) shows how vibrant this intersection used to be for music shoppers. The Thriffty's store occupies the former site of Steele's Tavern. The silver car in the foreground is a fairly rare Citroen SM (Maserati) built between 1979-1975.

Looking west again at the north side of Elm in the mid 80's. The Millwheel was a guitar shop that, as I recall dealt in mostly acoustic instruments, guitars and mandolins etc.

Looking west along Elm from Yonge in 1952. Note the two story arcade entrance of Allen's where merchandise could be prominently displayed.
By 2010 Allen's is long gone and replaced by a Pizza Pizza.
This shot appears to be from the mid 80's when it was a Papaya Hut. The double story entrance relatively intact.
